Victoria’s Wild Water Festival

Hold your breath and hang ten for the Wild Water Festival – presented by the Victoria Film Festival!

Adventure, excitement, extreme sports, and ecological issues will share the spotlight at Victoria’s Wild Water Festival from September 22 – 25, 2016. In its first-ever year, the Wild Water Festival is being proudly presented by the Victoria Film Festival and features both full-length and short films guaranteed to get your heart racing.

If you’re anything like me, the Wild Water Festival trailer created an undeniable lump in your throat! β€œWILD WATER is a film festival for those who love all things water. This international water festival screens daring people thrilling to its beauty, its possibilities, and its integral role in our environment,” said Kathy Kay, Wild Water’s Festival Director. β€œIt’s our greatest resource, Victoria is surrounded by it, and there are many exciting adventures to be had.

Wild Water Festival

Dive into the weekend with a fundraiser benefiting the Surfrider Foundation’s Vancouver Island Branch. The evening will include a silent photo auction, short film screening, drinks, and light appetizers at one of my personal favourites, the Canoe Brewpub.

Family-friendly activities on Saturday offer a free way for everyone to get involved: learn to make a bioluminescent fish; watch a live stream from the depths of the ocean; or learn to use signal flags! There’s also an ocean photo booth, providing a hilarious way to get creative and capture the memories. A complete listing of all family activities can be found online by clicking here.

All Wild Water Festival films will be screened at Victoria’s only licensed theatre, The Vic, and include:

  • Chasing Niagara
  • View From A Blue Moon
  • It Ain’t Pretty
  • Sonic Sea

Visit the Wild Water Festival official website for more information on these and other films featured at the festival.
