Labour Day Long Weekend in Victoria and a Visit to Magnolia Hotel & Spa
It wasn’t so long ago that, here on the coast of British Columbia, we were frolicking in sunshine and warm temperatures. Though it appears that cool and wet autumn weather has arrived, nothing warms me more than awesome memories.
Over the recent Labour Day long weekend, J and I made our way to Victoria with Jordy in tow. Our capital is easily one of British Columbia’s most beautiful claims to fame and being in the middle of it all was important to me. The three of us were lucky enough to call Magnolia Hotel & Spa our home away from home for that weekend.
Our bags and jaws dropped simultaneously as we entered our top floor Diamond Room, complete with a king-sized bed, gas fireplace, soaker tub and sweeping floor-to-ceiling views of the city. I know that the point of a vacation usually is to get out and explore, but Magnolia makes it difficult to ever want to leave the room.
During my last visit to Magnolia Hotel & Spa – on a girls’ getaway weekend with Rebecca – and on this most recent stay, what impressed me most was the little things. No detail was left unattended to and such care from the hotel staff makes for a truly memorable visit.
Not surprisingly, J and I were not the only fans of our king-sized bed. Magnolia Hotel & Spa is very dog-friendly and Jordy was welcomed as warmly as any of the hotel’s two-legged guests. The ability to not have to leave a family member back at home is a dealbreaker when it comes to our travel choices, so this was a huge part of the trip that we were truly grateful for.
During the few moments when we weren’t out exploring or spending time with family members that were also in town for the long weekend, we sipped coffee while watching the float planes land and takeoff in the inner harbour. That was easily the best in-room entertainment we could ask for.
However, with the abundant sunshine we were often drawn outside. The rest of our weekend was filled with people watching, cold beverages on sunny patios, ice cream on my first-ever visit to Fishermen’s Wharf and (of course) a little bit of retail therapy.
While it would be a dream to put down roots in Victoria, it’s nice to know that it’s a spot we can visit anytime and still feel like we’re completely at home.
CMP.LY/2 Our stay at Magnolia Hotel & Spa was offered at a reduced rate with a complimentary upgrade. I was not paid or asked to write this post. My thoughts, views and opinions are entirely my own.
