The Two F’s Of Running
Fitness and fun! (I can’t believe I just agreed to the second of those.)
When I went wedding dress shopping with my mom and Rebecca, I broke the cardinal rule: I ordered a dress in a size smaller than the one I tried on and ultimately chose.
While the majority of brides work hard to be the fittest version of themselves on their wedding day, I have no choice but to make sure that happens. I’ve been practicing yoga for years but since yoga is more internal than external for me, I know I needed to up my game. After a
lot little bit of encouragement, J finally got me to take up running over the past two months.
I dragged my sneakered heels for so long because any time I’ve ever been running in the past, it’s been a struggle. I’ve always wanted to enjoy it but have never been able to psyche myself into any aspect of pounding the pavement. Maybe this time around it’s different because I have a goal and something specific to aspire to. Whatever it is, running has clicked for me.
I’ve started ditching yoga classes for running. I think about running even when I’m not. Tracking my progress with maps, time and distance has also been really helpful for me because I’m a visual learner. Strava has been useful for all of those things.
One thing I could not run without is music. The second I can hear my own breath, I’m done and I’m stopping. Music with a beat that matches my footsteps will keep my putting one foot in front of the other. My current top ten playlist must-haves are:
