Celebrate 30 Years Of the Filberg Festival

UPDATE: We have randomly drawn four winners of one-day passes to the Filberg Festival. All winners have been personally contacted. Thanks for playing along!

Some things are synonymous with summer: ice cream cones, the scent of sunscreen and days spent at the beach. For me it’s the annual Filberg Festival. Only a few weeks away, the Festival is set to celebrate its 30th year in the Comox Valley.

Each year the stunning Filberg Park showcases exceptional artisans, musicians and culinary creators in a sunny setting overlooking the Comox Glacier. Where else can you collect a unique piece of pottery, listen to fantastic music and nosh on a frozen chocolate banana all in one place?

Apart from the wide-range of weavers, potters, skin care companies, food products, painters and more, the entertainment is always something Filberg Festival-goers look forward to. 2012’s line-up will not disappoint. Amongst those confirmed for this year:

  • Babe Gurr
  • Dave Harris
  • Flora Scott Trio
  • High Bar Gang
  • Michael Kaeshammer
  • Spirit of the West

  1. I’m planning on attending the festival as part of my bday celebrations, a free pass would be quite a bday gift! :) I was at the festival many years ago and was astounded by the number of craftspeople attending. I’m excited to see what types of artwork and crafts are there this year. And of course munch on some yummy food too!!

  2. I love the Filberg Festival and go most years when I can. Even my boyfriend loves it shockingly! There are so many awesome craftspeople there. We have bought a new wooden game from one vendor the last three years in a row. We’ve also bought some beautiful pottery. The setting of the festival is on such gorgeous grounds that I can’t go there without taking pictures of their property. Along with the Vancouver Island Musicfestival this is definitely one of the most fantastic events that takes place on our gorgeous island! One of my most memorable moments was actually seeing Spirit of the West and watching John Mann jumping up and down like a pogo stick. Such energy you couldn’t help but have a great time!. I can’t wait to see them again. I’ll be going for sure but winning tickets would just be a bonus. Thanks

  3. Michael Kaeshammer. I love to see live piano, and he is the best!

  4. Spirit of the West is my favourite all time band. I’m looking forward to taking my 3 and 6-year olds to the concert on Friday as well as show them all the stalls by artisans that are always so much fun. It really is a great opportunity for the artistan community to come out and show their talents.

  5. The pottery of Denman Island based Gordon Hutchins literally takes my breath away. I also like to sample the flavored almonds at Drovak’s Creations. My favorite memory is selecting an incredibly beautiful glazed large bowl from Quasimoto Pottery with my late husband. It was our last summer outing and last collectible/functional art purchase before he passed away.

  6. I saw Michael Kaeshammer’s name and that was it! I missed him everytime he performed in my area in Ontario. I moved here and now I have the chance to see him here! How wonderful is that?!
