House-Shaped Heart

While there are times I resent my monthly cable bill, I have resigned myself to the fact that there are some channels I simply cannot live without. AMC gives me my Mad Men fix, RaptorsTV and TSN2 bring the Phoenix Suns into my living room during the NBA season and HGTV keeps my creative gears turning. I am positively obsessed with design and real estate shows, and if I’d known better when I was younger, I would have picked a different career path.

Canadian designer Sarah Richardson is the host of the wildly popular Sarah’s House, showcasing her energetic, elegant and inspired designs. With a punch from her savvy sidekick Tommy, Sarah transforms everyday homes into show-stoppers with a modest budget and a ton of talent. Her on-screen presence is infectious but even more enchanting are her creations. I recently had a peek at her online portfolio and thought I’d share a few of my favourites with you all.

Commence drooling.

  1. Sure is a lot of white..that laundry room is pretty cool (sands the tv) and then I do like the look of that landing stairway.

Though the view in the last photo is awesome 😉 lol

Makes me wonder though, once we get a house, how will we decorate it.

  2. Beaaautiful! Seeing that baby room makes me think that I could actually handle having a baby one day – lol – so classy and peaceful.

I made curtains out of a similar fabric covering those bar stools in the kitchen (for my bedroom) loooove!

  3. @Ashley – Yes, the baby room is gorgeous, but I only posted it out of appreciation from an aesthetic point of view. It’s nice to see that nurseries don’t have to be baby-ish at all. That said, it sure as heck isn’t kickin’ any bio clocks into gear.

  4. I can actually say that I love every idea and look in the photos on this post…

  5. I looove Sarah Richardson. Her shows are my favourite on HGTV. She is so creative and talented and she doesn’t even have a background in interior design. I don’t think she can do any wrong.

The real estate shows are good too! That new one called Selling New York looks interesting.
