YOU NEED TO HEAR THESE

img_05582.jpgBeing that there are only three blissfully dreamy sleeps between now and the time that me and my partner in crime head to Vancouver Island for riding good times at Mt. Washington, it’s time to start seriously considering music to shred to. Good music is a hugely important part of a contented riding experience on the mountain.

When choosing ballads to ride by, names like NOFX, Radiohead and Dead Kennedys are often suggested by friends of mine. However, for this gal, snowboarding is a near-sensual experience. After all, it’s almost all in the hips, right? That being said, a lot of what I prefer to ride to has a beat rather than a thrash.

So without further adieu, I present to you Keira-Anne’s Official Collection of Music to Carve To:

  • Pray” – Jay-Z (essentially first for warm-up purposes)
  • Normandie” – Shout Out Louds
  • Addiction” – Kanye West
  • Blue Sky” – Hanson
  • So What’cha Want” – Beastie Boys
  • I Wish You Were Here” – Incubus (also perfect for chilling in Tofino)
  • Whole Lotta Love” – Led Zeppelin
  • Ignorant Shit” – Jay-Z
  • Sunshowers” – M.I.A.
  • Touch the Sky” – Kanye West (“It feels good to be home, baby…“)
  • Mother We Just Can’t Get Enough” – New Radicals
  • Above Me” – Rufio
  • Dig For Fire” – Pixies
  • Red Dragon” – Moka Only
  • What’s your ride?

Those are all excellent choices. Beastie Boys are tops on my riding soundtrack.

Great choice, although for my list I’d added a few more Zepplins, Radiohead, and Tool songs on the list.

I’m heading to Joffre Lakes for some backcountry camping/skiing this weekend. The thought of fresh untracked pows makes me drool.

I’ll try to slim it down since the riding playlist on my nano is 5 hours long. It changes, but these are the ones that always stay. Strangely enough, most of it’s influenced by watching snowboard videos…

    Sabotage – Beastie Boys
Saviorself – Jedi Mind Tricks (highly recommend)
    Lady Venom – Swollen Members
My Name is Jonas – Weezer
In the Morning – Junior Boys
One of Us is Gonna Die Young – The Ark
    Strugglin’ – K’Naan
    Rockstar – N.E.R.D
    The Seed – The Roots
Who’s Your Daddy? – Benny Benassi
Worth Dying For? – Rise Against
    Jesus Walks – Kanye

Say it Ain’t So – Weezer at the end of the day. Nice and mellow, fits the mood, because I rarely come off the hill happy that I’m going home.
